The History of Wine & Water
Built in Belgium in 1938, the barge, or péniche as it is known in France, is one of only 160 examples of its type. Starting life as a commercial barge transporting a cargo of coal, cereal and wood, it became a hotel boat in 1986. Max bought Wine & Water in 2013 and executed a complete refit throughout making it the luxury hotel that you can experience today. Flooded with natural light, Wine & Water is both centrally heated and air-conditioned.
