History of the hotel barge
Built in Belgium in 1938, the barge, or "péniche" as it is known in France, is one of only 160 examples of its type. Starting life as a commercial barge transporting a cargo of coal, cereal and wood, it became a hotel boat in 1986. Max bought the barge Wine & Water in 2013 and executed a complete refit throughout making it the luxury hotel that you can experience today. Flooded with natural light, Wine & Water is both centrally heated and air-conditioned.
